Dental crowns are restorations that encase the entire visible portion of your tooth in order to restore its original shape, size and color. Our dentists often recommend dental crowns to strengthen and protect teeth that have experienced more severe damage, including:
- Teeth which are broken or fractured
- Teeth which have suffered tooth decay
- Fractured fillings
- Large fillings
- Teeth that have undergone a root canal
- Teeth that need cosmetic enhancement
Your dental crown will be customized in size, shape and color to match your natural teeth and restore full functionality as well as a beautiful smile. Traditionally, dental crowns require two visits to our office to complete. However, Laurel Family Dental features advanced CEREC technology, which enables us to complete your treatment in just one appointment.
Our dentists will begin by cleaning the damaged tooth and preparing it to receive a crown. We will then use our CEREC technology to take a digital impression of your mouth and design your dental crown. Your crown will be milled from tooth-colored material. We will check to ensure that it fits correctly and bond it into place. We will complete your treatment by polishing your crown.
